Abstract

Recent trend in urological operations was investigated based on the statistics of 1, 647 operations, 1967 to 1971, at the Department of Urology, Osaka University Hospital. Comparison was made with the statistics of the preceding ten years period. 1. Operation upon the ureter and the urethra have increased and on the prostate decreased. 2. Nephrectomy decreased, but pyeloplasty and the renoparenchymal surgery have increased. 3. Ureteroneocystostomy has increased. 4. In general, the reno conservative principle has been emphasized. 5. Transurethral surgery on the bladder and the prostate has markedly increased. 6. For bladder tumor, treatment by transurethral surgery or by total cystectomy with ileal conduit was established as a principle. On the other hand, partial cystectomy has not been chosen. 7. Plastic surgery on hypospadia of the urethra has increased. 8. As to urinary diversion, cutaneous ureterostomy has decreased, but ileal conduit and nephrostomy have increased.
