The role of work stress in the development of accidents

At December 2nd, 2003 the Third International Tripod Symposium: Loss of Control was took place. At the symposium a lecture was held by Dr. F. Vaas of TNO Work and Employment about the role of work stress in the development of accidents. At TNO Work and Employment a management tool was developed to proactively manage stress. The tool is named Tripod Sigma and was developed at the request of Shell International. The presentation is concentrated on three points: 1. Work related stress as compared to an accident; 2. Work related stress as a problem for management; 3. Tripod Sigma as a tool for management.
