Recommended Papers of 2020 From the TMR Editorial Board

Worldwide readers of Transfusion Medicine Reviews are welcome to take note of the 15 publications in the field of transfusion medicine that are summarized herein. The papers were selected by the Editorial Board of the journal as being significant works published in the year 2020. They cover a broad range of topics in the field including the use of convalescent plasma to treat COVID-19 infection, antifibrinolytic therapy in adults with major gastrointestinal bleeding, neonatal and pediatric transfusion practice, immune thrombocytopenia, and the use of TEG/ROTEM versus conventional coagulation testing in patients with trauma. Despite the terrible medical challenges of 2020, these papers demonstrate that the year witnessed substantial advances in our understanding of improved transfusion care.
