Abstract
- Several word processing and desktop publishing innovations grew out of 1970s research by Larry Tesler and his collaborators at Stanford and Xerox PARC. One prototype was PUB, a markup language for print publishing. Another was Gypsy, a text editor with a cut/copy/paste command suite that became the de facto standard in desktop publishing and most other applications.
