Abstract
- Nine long-term survivors of carcinoma of the esophagus treated with preoperative x-ray therapy were assessed. Eight lived or are living more than five years after treatment. One was lost to follow-up. None has had recurrent esophageal carcinoma. In view of these findings, the authors recommend preoperative radiotherapy for esophageal cancer.
