« La nuit de noce sur la natte » : l’expression liminaire d’une initiation ratée

Cet article propose une lecture ethnocritique du texte d’Assia Djebar « Ombre Sultane », en exposant l’apport de cette théorie à l’étude des chronotopes rituels et les logiques culturelles qui architecturent son roman. Ces logiques ritiques ainsi que les métissages anthropologiques articulés autour du rite du mariage, et les symboles qui lui sont associés, sont retraduit par l’œuvre en dé-nouant les difficiles traversées des frontières, mobiles et labiles, du personnage liminaire d’Isma et constitue le point nodal du procès narratif. This article proposes an ethnocritical reading of Assia Djebar’s novel "Ombre Sultane", through exposing the contribution of this theory to the study of ritual chronotopes and cultural logics, which shape her novel. These ritual logics as well as the anthropological mixtures articulated around the rite of marriage, and the symbols associated with it are mirrored and reflected in the novel by unveiling the difficult border crossings faced by the liminal character of Isma, and they constitute the nodal point of the narrative process.
