Abstract

Purpose: to choose a method of steel syphon reconstruction in Barsuki village, Republic of Ingushetia, to prevent flooding of the rural territory. Immediacy of the problem lies in the fact that the Alkhanchurtsky canal with the conjugation of the upstream and downstream through the water-conveyance structure of a three-ply siphon passes along the territory of Barsuki community. The condition of the syphon is pre-emergency, as a result of which, on August 24, 2019, a breakthrough occurred in the coat of one of the pipe strings where a water emergency volume fell into the territory of the village of Barsuki, under a pressure of about 3.7 atm. Materials and methods. The materials were data from a field survey of the internal and external state of the siphon walls at the end of January 2020. As a result of the examination, it was found that the inner surface of the two siphon strings is in a pre-emergency state. As a result of metal corrosion inside the pipes, spots with laminated flaking of the pipe walls and their subsequent collapse were detected. Processing of the survey material was conducted using the method of statistic analysis. Results and discussion. The processed materials showed that the water conducting part of the Alkhanchurtsky canal in the siphon middle pipe no. 2 is in pre-emergency condition. A metal siphon with a diameter of 2 m is designed for water passage with a flow rate of 7 cubic meters per second. Geodetic studies of the siphon route showed that its part of 497 m long has an angle of inclination of 4.7 degrees to the horizon, and on the remaining 79.78 m, the siphon is laid at an angle of 23.9 degrees. Conclusions. The need to develop measures to protect metal structures from corrosion is caused by the fact that the main damage from corrosive effects is the failure of a significant part of metal structures, since due to corrosion they lose strength, reliability and other necessary qualities. Among currently existing methods for reconstructing a steel pipe, the cold compression technology is the most suitable for the rehabilitation of siphons with polyethylene pipes.
