F-spin multiplets of O(6)-like nuclei

Exploiting the concept of {ital F} spin to link extended series of noncontiguous nuclei, it is proposed that {ital F}-spin multiplets ({ital F}=4.5, 5, and 5.5, respectively) commencing with {sup 158,160,162} Yb comprise series of nuclei with similar character resembling the O(6) dynamical symmetry or, at least, the {gamma}-soft O(5) subgroup. The evidence brought to bear on this stems from the yrast ground band levels, {ital B}({ital E}2) values, and signature effects in medium-spin negative-parity levels.
