Abstract
- Summary Free aldehyde-containing compounds have been isolated from the acidic hydrolysis of purified elastin. These substances gave bisulphite addition compounds, which could be retained on an AG 1-X 4 column and then selectively separated from the amino acids present. Peptides containing aldehyde groups have also been isolated from a mild alkaline hydrolysate of elastin. These peptides were retained on a QAE-Sephadex column that had previously been treated with H 2 S0 3 .
