Abstract

Vespula rufa (LINNAEUS 1758) L o c a l i t i e s:AnoParoia,LargePlateau,yellowpantrapataldercarr,8.8.- 13.8.2007, 1 º. Neo Petritsi, Sultanitsa, 19.5.- 25.5.2008, 1♀; 7.- 13.7.2008, 1 º; 21.- 27.7.2008, 2 ºº; 1.9.- 7.9.2008, 1 º. Vironia, Beabies, 9.- 15.6.2008, 1 º; 23.- 29.6.2008, 1 º. Vironia, Ramna, 16.6.- 22.6.2008, 2 ºº; 23.- 29.6.2008, 1 º; 30.6.- 6.7.2008, 1 º; 7.7.- 13.7.2008, 2 ºº; 14.- 20.7.2007, 1 º; 19.7.2009, yellow pan traps, 2WW. The four localities are in hilly and montane damp and forested areas at 630-1485 m. Holarctic forest species which can also inhabit coniferous forests. The southern European mountains represent the southern borders of the species’ distribution. The only previous finds from Greece are mentioned in an unpublished dissertation by ĆETKOVIĆ 2002.
