Abstract

BACKGROUND: To explore the value of serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (sNGAL) in the diagnosis and follow up of neonatal late-onset sepsis. METHODS: A total of 69 infants were enrolled in this prospective study, including 49 infants of late-onset neonatal sepsis in the observation group, and 20 infants without infection serving as the control group. The sNGAL, C-reactive protein (CRP), and procalcitonin (PCT) concentrations were determined in both groups and compared at different time points. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was drawn to evaluate the values of the 3 parameters in the forecast of neonatal late-onset sepsis.
