Second Harmonic Generation In a GaN Photonic Crystal Cavity on Silicon

Abstract
- We report on second harmonic generation in a free-standing gallium nitride photonic crystal cavity fabricated on a silicon substrate. The cavity is resonant at 1577 nm and the harmonic conversion is obtained with a continuous wave laser. High resolution spatial imaging of the second harmonic field allows us to make the correlation between the harmonic emission pattern and the dominating second order polarization P z .
