Abstract
- Galanin, galanin-like peptide(GALP), and alarin belong to the galanin family. They are mainly produced in the brain and secreted to the blood, and have indicated various physiological functions. These hormones relate to feeding behavior, although their effects differ between animals. Galanin family hormones are bound to GalRs, including GalR1, GalR2, and GalR3. These receptors are widely distributed in mammal brain, and are involved in rectifying K+ channels (GIRK) and mitogen associated protein (MAPK) signaling pathways. GALP and alarin can bind to these receptors, but several studies have reported that these receptors are not specific.
