Abstract
- The compounds GdFe 8 Al 4 and GdFe 10 Al 2 with the ThMn 12 structure were obtained by melt spinning and annealing at 450 °C. They are ferri-magnetic with net moments at room temperature of 6.1 and 10.6 μ B formula unit −1 respectively. Iron hyperfine fields range from 19–27 T in GdFe 10 Al 2 . There is no non-magnetic iron site. The extrapolated Curie temperature for “GdFe 12 ” is 600 K.
