Abstract

Report of a forum organized by the Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information. The strategic plan of CISTI highlights its role as a catalyst in the development of a Canadian scientific and technical information network. The internet has emerged as a powerful resource for the educational and research sector; however a corresponding development within the federal government has been slow. The internet is the world's largest compuer network. It connects about 70 million people in 61 countries.
