Abstract
- Gene fusions involving the anaplastic lymphoma kinase ( ALK) gene occurs in approximately 3-5% of lung adenocarcinomas. The most common fusion partner is EML4 but several other fusion partners to the ALK kinase domain have been identified. Herein we report a lung adenocarcinoma case harboring a fusion between ALK and Striatin ( STRN ), with extended responses to targeted therapy. Using CT-guided needle biopsy approach, we successfully generated a patient-derived xenograft model from this tumor and molecularly characterized the STRN-ALK gene fusion.
