Supplementary figure 1 from Differential Effects of IL6 and Activin A in the Development of Cancer-Associated Cachexia

Mice bearing colon-26 tumors rapidly lose lean and fat mass, together with significant wasting of muscle groups. These losses correlate with increases in the phosphorylation of the transcription factors, Stat3 and Smad3, which are activated by IL-6 and activin A, respectively. Smad3 target genes are also altered in cachectic mice.
