Abstract
- It is a fact that misleading communication is one of the factors that threaten food safety. With the widespread use of social media, this threat is increasing its influence gradually. In particular, statements of non-experts against scientific ethics mislead the society on food. This phenomenon adversely affects the producer, processor and consumer on the one hand, and the national economy on the other. To mitigate these effects, a prohibitive approach seems to have come to the fore. However, the most effective way to prevent these adverse effects is to create an evidence-based discussion environment within the scope of media ethics and to include every opinion within the scope of scientific ethics. It is also necessary to provide reliable information to the public from an independent and impartial scientific committee.
