Abstract
- SOME sulphonamide derivatives have been found to have antidiabetic effects, and these drugs have recently been brought into use in the treatment of diabetes1. Sulphonamides are also known to possess goitrogenic properties2. There is some evidence for the goitrogenic effect of the new antidiabetic drug, N1-sulphanilyl-N2-n-butylurea3. In the present communication the effect of this substance on the rat thyroid is described, using histochemically demonstrable succinic dehydrogenase activity of the thyroid gland as an indicator of its activity.
