Aims. The article aims to present the phenomenon of digital dementia in the context of measures aimed at minimising this phenomenon through digital balance measures, which are increasingly available in standard Android overlays. In addition, the article provides an overview of measures available in the form of software, and applications for mobile devices running on Android, which will allow for better monitoring control by parents in terms management of their children’s screen time. Method. The article is a review of selected practical solutions with theoretical justification based on Polish and world literature. Results. This article presents theoretical issues based on a literature review and presents available practical solutions to digital dementia in children. The influences of the family environment, parents’ awareness, and their viewpoints, is indisputable in shaping attitudes leading to unreflective multimedia abuse by children. In many studies, the excessive influence of multimedia is negatively portrayed, despite the many advantages that multimedia gives us. There are many solutions in the form of monitoring applications that make it possible to minimise undesirable activities for the healthy development of children and young people. Conclusions. Parents are the first people to introduce their children to the world of multimedia, showing them, by their behaviour, how to spend their free time, and permitting them to use it as they wish. It is difficult to escape from the digitalization of some areas of human life. Only a fully conscious approach by parents and teachers and skilful presentation of alternative solutions in the form of valuable entertainment can minimize the negative effects on children’s development. However, the available applications in the android system allow parents to monitor time data related to their use.
