Abstract
- Pectineus muscle resection was performed on 100 dogs with hip dysplasia. The degree of dysplasia was estimated by radiography and by joint manipulation. The effects of the procedure on 81 dogs were determined by personal reinspection (34), or by means of owner-reports (47). Improvement was noted in 80 per cent but only 35 per cent reached a high level of recovery. The operation has a role in the treatment of hip dysplasia but it does not cure the condition and it will be several years before the long-term results are known.
