Abstract
- We report a simple synthesis and the structural characterization of a small, isostructural series of distorted pentagonal-bipyramidal LnI2(CH3CN)5 (Ln = Sm, Eu, Yb) complexes. These complexes could be employed as versatile, labile starting materials in Ln(II) chemistry when the presence of oxygen-containing ligands is undesired.
