Available without charge athttp://www.ncchta.org/ProjectData/1_project_record_published.asp?PjtId=1152&status=6 This systematic review addressed questions aboutgenetic screening from mothers’ points of view. Thereview summarizes a growing body of research aboutknowledge, anxiety and other emotional aspects of screen-ing, factors associated with participation in screeningprograms, and consequences of receiving false-positive, false-negative, true-positive, and true-negative results. Theauthors conclude that pressing policy matters, in order ofpriority, are need to achieve adequate informed consent,costs associated with quality services, unmet needs ofwomen receiving false-positive test results, and unmetneeds of women’s partners (especially related to carrierscreenings).
