Abstract

Less is known about the possible mediating role of different facets of impulsivity in the association between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and two forms of aggression, namely reactive and proactive aggression, and whether sports participation can influence these associations. Therefore, in this study, we will investigate to what extent the five different facets of impulsivity, including positive and negative urgency, sensation seeking, and lack of premeditation and perseverance, can mediate the association between ACEs and reactive and proactive aggression in a community sample. Second, we will also investigate the extent to which sports participation can moderate the association between ACEs and the five facets of impulsivity, as well as the association between facets of impulsivity and reactive and proactive aggression.
