High-field magnetisation and specific heat of the compound UFe10Si2

Abstract

We have investigated the magnetic properties of UFe 10 Si 2 by means of high-field magnetic measurements and specific-heat measurements. The spontaneous moment of UFe 10 Si 2 at 4.2 K equals18.33 μ B /f.u. The electronic specific-heat coefficient γ equals 77 mJ/mol K 2 . Our data show that the 5f electrons in UFe 10 Si 2 have to be regarded as fairly localised in character.
