Abstract
- Osteoarthritis of the knee is an increasing burden in our ageing population that is often managed successfully by total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Infection following TKA is a devastating complication that accounts for significant cost and morbidity, and often requires surgery. Although modern practice has reduced the incidence of postoperative infection, reported rates still range from 1% to 2%.
