Abstract

Adiponectin exhibits multiple roles in insulin resistance, inflamma-tory process, atherogenesis and cardioprotection. To evaluate analytical characteristics of the Randox immunoturbidimetric adiponectinassay (Randox Laboratories Limited, Crumlin, UK), not otherwise pro-vided by the manufacturer reagent insert sheet, we have explored: i) method precision ; ii) comparability of adiponectin concentration inserum as recommended sample by the manufacturer and lithium–heparin plasma and iii) influence of hemolysis, lipemia and icterus onadiponectin concentration according to CLSI EP7-A2 protocol forinterference testing in clinical chemistry. The effect of hemolysis, icterus and lipemia on Randox immunoturbidimetric adiponectin assay.
