Abstract
- Hyperolius adspersus Peters, 1877 Material (two specimens): Two adult female specimens (MHNCUP/ ANF 210–211, formerly UP-MHNFCP-017298 and UP-MHNFCP-017292; Fig. S7), collected from Cabiri [-8.92125º, 13.66654º, 31 m a.s.l.], Bengo Province, in 1903. Comments: Hyperolius adspersus was originally described from “Chinchoxo”, Cabinda Province (Peters 1877), and has been recorded from a few other localities in Bengo, Lunda-Sul and Moxico provinces (Marques et al. 2018), but its distribution extends northwest to southern Cameroon (Channing & Rödel 2019). The species has remained understudied and is a part of the Hyperolius nasutus Günther, 1865 group (Channing et al. 2013). The extant specimens were used by Ferreira (1904) as the type specimens for what he considered a new taxon, Rappia nobrei, named in homage to Augusto Nobre. However, after revision of the type series, Ceríaco et al. (2014b) suggested that Rappia [= Hyperolius] nobrei is a junior synonym H. adspersus.<br />Published as part of Santos, Bruna S., Marques, Mariana P., Bauer, Aaron M. & Ceríaco, Luis M.
