Abstract
- The Institute of Medicine (IOM) report Cancer Care for the Whole Patient: Meeting Psychosocial Needs outlines a standard of care that includes the provision of psychosocial care across the cancer care continuum. 1 Additionally, evidence supports the efficacy of psychological interventions for cancer patients. 2,3 The IOM report emphasizes the need to address psychological distress and makes recommendations regarding psychosocial oncology (PSO) services.
