Abstract

Cirrhitichthys aprinus (Cuvier in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1829) —Blotched hawkfish Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed in Kavieng Lagoon by Jeff Kinch during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in 2013 (see Teitelbaum et al. 2013: 15). Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: South Africa; Indonesia east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Found in coastal and seaward coral reefs, 5– 40 m depth.
