Recent advances in glycoconjugate analysis and glycobiology

Glycoconjugate chemistry and glycobiology were rapidly evolving scientific disciplines in the 1980s. Their impact, however, on understanding fundamental biological processes was not immediately forthcoming. Within the past 12–18 moths, there has been a resurgence in the field with major discoveries leading to powerful new insights into the complex role of glycoconjugates in biological processes.
