L’effectivité en samba leko, étude d’une particule modale dans une langue Adamawa du Cameroun

En samba leko, de fortes contraintes syntaxiques s’exercent sur fin de l’énoncé. Mis à part les numéraux cardinaux, adverbes et idéophones, la position finale absolue est occupée soit par une marque interrogative, soit, dans le cadre de l’assertion, par un inventaire contraint d’unités grammaticales, dont certaines peuvent se combiner dans un ordre strict. La position finale absolue n’est donc pas spécifiquement celle où s’emploient les particules énonciatives qui permettent au locuteur de « signaler à son interlocuteur la force illocutoire de son discours et/ou son attitude vis-à-vis de certains éléments de la situation de communication » pour reprendre Ameka (1998), mais c’est bien dans la zone globalement finale de l’énoncé qu’on les trouve. Après une présentation de ces contraintes, on se focalisera sur le fonctionnement de l’Effectif, qui intervient en avant dernière position de l’énoncé devant la marque d’assertion, ou en position finale d’une proposition dépendante, pour indiquer l’engagement de l’énonciateur quant à la réalité de son propos. Au travers de ses différents emplois dans les assertions verbales simples, dans les énoncés complexes et dans le cadre spécifique du discours rapporté, les nuances de sa valeur épistémique seront exposées. In Samba Leko, there are strong syntactic constraints on the end of the utterance. Apart from cardinal numerals, adverbs and ideophones, the absolute final position is occupied either by an interrogative marker or, in the context of assertion, by a constrained inventory of grammatical units, some of which can be combined in a strict order. The absolute final position is therefore not specifically the one where the enunciative particles are used, which allow the speaker to "signal to the interlocutor the illocutionary force of his speech and/or his attitude towards certain elements of the communication situation", as Ameka (1998) puts it, but it is in the overall final zone of the utterance that they are found. After a presentation of these constraints, we will focus on the functioning of the Effective, which occurs in the penultimate position of the utterance before the assertion mark, or in the final position of a dependent clause, to indicate the commitment of the enunciator to the reality of his/her statement. Through its different uses in simple verbal assertions, in complex statements and in the specific framework of reported speech, the nuances of its epistemic value will be exposed.
