Non-instantaneous polarization decay in dielectric media

We demonstrate experimental evidence for non-instantaneous polarization decay in dielectrics. The few-femtosecond relaxation times agree favorable with solutions of the time-dependent Schrodinger equation and relate to resonances of the quantum mechanical dipole.
