Direct Transformation of Simple Enals to 3,4-Disubstituted Benzaldehydes under Mild Reaction Conditions via an Organocatalytic Regio- and Chemoselective Dimerization Cascade

The title reaction proceeds via two different routes: the self-dimerization of two equivalents of the same aliphatic enal, and the hetero-dimerization of two distinct enals in a regio- and chemoselective manner using racemic diphenyl prolinol Tms ether as catalyst.
