Abstract
- Several factors determine the mortality and morbidity resulting from blunt trauma to the liver. While the presence of multiple injuries is of undoubted importance, adequate drainage of the perihepatic area, decompression of the biliary tree when indicated, and hepatic lobectomy when required form the basis of surgical management, and decrease the morbidity and mortality associated with this serious injury.
