Abstract

A) Disease histories of individual patients. Time 0 corresponds to surgery, and each line of chemotherapy is shown. Primary tumors are distinguished from residual disease. B) Circle distribution of vital status, lymphovascular invasion and metastatic status, according to type of tumor (primary or residual), showing that a large proportion of the patients with residual disease died from their cancer, with most of these patients presenting LVI and metastases. By contrast, 50% of the patients for whom PDXs were derived from primary tumors died from their disease, with metastasis noted in a large proportion. However, the proportion of these patients with LVI was similar amongst the patient still alive and those who died. C) Distribution of the the sites at which the first metastasis was detected.
