Abstract
- Intestinal absorption of sixteen carbohydrates was studied using cannulated intestinal segments of rats. The carbohydrates studied included all of the d -aldo-hexoses and d -aldopentoses as well as l -xylose, l -arabinose, d -glucosamine and N- acetyl - d - glucosamine . Of these, only d -glucose, d -galactose, and d -allose were rapidly absorbed.
