Abstract
- An account is given of some of the complications that arise following the internal fixation of fractures in dogs. Osteomyelitis is one of the most serious untoward sequelae and the clinical and radiographic features of twenty-five dogs with the severe form are described. Treatment by means of debridement, further fracture immobilization and antibiotic therapy proved successful in the majority. Stifle joint stiffness following the repair of femoral fractures is discussed, and attention is drawn to a number of problems that are caused by errors of technique.
