Abstract
- Fluoride is regarded as an essential element for the formation of healthy bones and teeth. However, high fluoride levels in drinking water have been associated with high incidences of dental fluorosis. A 1996–1997 study in Njoro Division, Nakuru District, established that the groundwater used for cooking and drinking, obtained from boreholes and wells, had fluoride levels much higher than the World Health Organisation recommended level of 0.7ppm.
