Abstract

Empoasca (Empoasca) lijiangensis Liu, sp. nov. (Figs. 45–53; Figs. 74–77) Type materials: China: holotype: m#, Lijiang (26° 53’02” N, 100° 13’32” E), Yunnan Prov., 13 November 1999, 2300 m, coll. Daozheng Qin; paratypes: 7 m #, same data as holotype. (all in NWAFU). Length: m# 2.9 mm. Ground color of body yellowish-green (Fig. 77). Crown with yellow patch on each side of coronal suture (Fig. 74). Eyes black. Pronotum with yellow irregular patches on anterior margin of pronotum and under eyes. Forewing and hindwing semitransparent. Abdomen yellowish-green. Legs light yellow to green (Fig. 76). Ventral abdominal apodemes short, only reaching segment 3, parallel-sided (Fig. 47). Pygofer in lateral view with posterior margin broadly rounded; 13–14 stout setae in group along posterior margin, few slim setae near stout setae group (Fig. 45); pygofer appendage following posterior margin of pygofer, not extended beyond pygofer, broadly bifurcated with dorsal branch much longer than ventral branch (Fig. 46). Anal tube broad at base, tapering and slightly sinuate toward apex (Fig. 49). Subgenital plate in lateral view, curved gradually caudodorsad apically, not expanded apically; with numerous macrosetae and fine setae somewhat irregularly arranged; dorsolateral margin group A with 5 long stout setae subbasally and group B with 18–19 short microsetae on apical half (Fig. 53). Paramere with 5 teeth on dentifer, 4–5 setae subapically, apex nearly straight in lateral view, curved laterad in ventral view (Fig. 52). Connective broader than long, posterior margin medially emarginate (Fig. 48). Aedeagus in lateral view with preatrium long, aedeagal shaft curved dorsally, narrowing to apex (Figs. 50, 51). Gonopore terminal. Etymology: The species name is derived from the location “Lijiang” in Yunnan Province where the new species was collected. Diagnosis: The new species is similar to Empoasca furcata Vilbaste, 1968, but differs in having the pygofer appendage furcated apically in lateral view.<br />Published as part of Liu, Y., Qin, D.
