Potential source of circulating galectin-3 in heart failure: Studies on patients and cardiomyopathy mice

Galectin-3 (Gal-3) is a biomarker of heart failure (HF) with predictive value. However, the source of circulating Gal-3 in heart disease is unclear. We studied this question in HF patients and in mouse models of cardiomyopathy.
