THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE CHRONOTOP IN ADAPTATIONS TO JAPANESE MANGA ART: THE EXAMPLE OF 'MANGA SHAKESPEARE: HAMLET'

Araştırmanın amacı, Mikhail Bakhtin tarafından roman anlatısında mekân ve zaman ilişkisini kavramsallaştırdığı kronotop olgusunun, uyarlama çalışmalarındaki dönüşümünü incelemektir. Öykünün farklı söylemlerle; tiyatro metninden manga çizgi romanına adaptasyonunda Bakhtin’in kronotop kavramı ile zaman-uzam belirleyiciliğinin değişimi dikkate alınmıştır. W.Shakespear’in ‘Hamlet’ oyunundaki kronotopun ‘Manga Shakespeare: Hamlet’ yapıtındaki kronotopla aynı olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Aynı zamanda manga anlatısındaki yapısal özellikleri de incelenmiştir.
The aim of the research is to examine the transformation of the chronotope phenomenon, which was conceptualized by Mikhail Bakhtin in the narrative of the novel, in his adaptation studies. The story with different discourses; Bakhtin's concept of chronotope and the change of time-space determinism were taken into account in the adaptation from the theater text to the manga comic. It was concluded that the chronotope in W.Shakespeare's play 'Hamlet' is not the same as the chronotope in 'Manga Shakespeare: Hamlet'. At the same time, its structural features in the manga narrative were also examined.
