Abstract

This paper attempts to discover the problems and challenges in the cognitive research of translation process based on the review of the foreign present achievements in the theoretical and empirical researchesof translation so as to determine the potential direction of development in cognitive translation studies. The aim of this paper is to discuss some developments in empirical translation research within a theoretical and cognitive perspective. The focus is on the research of memory system regarding translation process. The paper first gives a short general overview of the role of memory system, highlights some questions which affect the process of translation. The analysis of the research and overview on translation as a cognitive activity has been made. The main psycholinguistic models in translation process have been considered and analysed. Finally, some conclusions are drawn and perspectives for future research are outlined.
