Abstract

25th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition / 5th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion, 6-10 September 2010, Valencia, Spain; 3573-3576<br />This paper presents the process and solar cell development progress within the European project HIGH-EF. Laser crystallized silicon seed layers are epitaxial thickened in a solid phase epitaxy process. These layer stacks are processed into Crystalline Silicon on Glass solar cells. In this paper various defect types and mechanisms are discussed. An efficiency improvement from 1.8% to 4.9% is reported.
