Abstract
- Double-stranded RNAs suppress the expression of homologous genes through an evolutionarily conserved process called RNA interference (RNAi) or post-transcriptional gene silencing. A bidentate nuclease called Dicer has been implicated as the protein responsible for the production of short interfering RNAs (siRNAs). In our experiments, Rex overexpression reduced the efficiency of short hairpin RNA (shRNA)-mediated RNAi. The interaction of Dicer with Rex inhibited the conversion of shRNA to siRNA. These results suggest that the interaction of Dicer with HTLV-I Rex inhibits Dicer activity and thereby reduces the efficiency of the conversion of shRNA to siRNA.Structured summaryMINT-7996954: Rex (uniprotkb:P0C205) physically interacts (MI:0915) with Dicer (uniprotkb:Q9UPY3) by pull down (MI:0096)MINT-7996926: Rex (uniprotkb:P0C205) and Dicer (uniprotkb:Q9UPY3) colocalize (MI:0403) by fluorescence microscopy (MI:0416)MINT-7996905: Dicer (uniprotkb:Q9UPY3) physically interacts (MI:0915) with Rex (uniprotkb:P0C205) by anti bait coimmunoprecipitation (MI:0006)MINT-7996852, MINT-7996870, MINT-7996886, MINT-7996830: Rex (uniprotkb:P0C205) physically interacts (MI:0915) with Dicer (uniprotkb:Q9UPY3) by anti tag coimmunoprecipitation (MI:0007)
