Abstract
- Rickets continues to occur even in warm countries like Greece. This is the first population survey of the incidence of biochemical evidence of rickets in a random sample of infants living in both uraban and rural areas. The authors examine the medical and social factors responsible for the occurrence of this preventable disease, and they present additional evidence that rickets may be a disease in which a genetically transmitted defect becomes evident under adverse environmental conditions.
