Abstract: This essay resists the binaries that the threshold often seems to imply and works towards a notion of thresholds as multiplicitous and always present. The author provides an account of the anxiety-filled process of writing this essay and the here-and-now thresholds involved; and through this he argues for scholarship that embraces the discomfort—the terror—of the threshold.
