Abstract
- In this paper the design and implementation of a sensor array suitable for 3D printers is presented. The sensor array includes sensors for motion/vibration, temperature, orientation and hygrometry. The sensor array is designed as an easily deployable, wireless sensor client-server system. Aggregated sensor data and print related data enable research on influencing ambient factors and quality control of the printing process. In future revisions this sensor system is intended as part of a closed-loop control system for 3D printers. The wireless connectivity enables the system to be incorporated in other machinery on moveable parts. In our research setting this is a CNC milling machine.
