Abstract: Since the late 1970’s, extensive testing has been conducted at Gramercy to remove high molecular weight organic compounds (humates) from Bayer process liquors. Early research work tested the removal of humates using the Giulini process (Dolime) , and by the use of organic polymeric additives.
