Abstract

Radiochemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Trombay, Mumbai-400 085, India E-mail: agpage@magnum.barc.ernet.in Fax: 91-22-550515115519613 Manuscript received 5 September 2001, revised 4 October 2002, accepted 14 November 2002 An electrothermal atomization-atomic absorption spectrometric (ETA-AAS) method has been developed for the direct determination of Co, Cr and Mn in gallium matrix. The selective removal of volatile matrix has been achieved in the preatomization stage by controlling the furnace temperature at 1300° during the heating cycle. Nanogram amounts of analytes can be determined using 5 µl of 10 mg/ml gallium sample aliquot with a precision of 8% R.S.D.
